Two Moon Junction — Vintage Movie Tee
Released in 1988, Two Moon Junction is one of those gloriously overheated late-’80s erotic dramas built almost entirely out of desire, class tension, Southern heat, and very bad decisions.
Sherilyn Fenn stars as April Delongpre, a young woman from a wealthy Southern family who is engaged to the kind of respectable man everyone expects her to marry. Then she meets Perry, played by Richard Tyson, a rough-edged carnival worker who represents everything her polished, carefully planned life is not.
Directed by Zalman King, the film has all the signatures that would define his work: slow-burn seduction, soft-focus glamour, heightened emotion, and the sense that sex is less a plot point than a force of nature. The movie barely pretends to be subtle, which is part of its charm.
Fenn is the center of it. Before Twin Peaks made her a full-fledged cult icon, she already had the exact screen presence Two Moon Junction needed: beautiful, cool, vulnerable, and slightly dangerous. Her performance gives the movie a dreamy, almost feverish quality that has helped it remain a favorite among fans of vintage erotic cinema.
