The Trestle — Dallas, Texas (1982–2010)
For nearly three decades, The Trestle stood as one of Dallas’s most iconic leather bars—a gritty, unapologetic gathering place for the city’s leather, levi, and fetish community. Opening its doors in 1982, the bar quickly became a cornerstone of Dallas nightlife, known for its dark atmosphere, strong drinks, and loyal crowd of regulars who came as much for the camaraderie as the cruising.
Located in the heart of Dallas’s Oak Lawn district, The Trestle embraced the classic leather-bar aesthetic: dim lighting, industrial décor, and a soundtrack that mixed rock, dance, and underground club hits. Leather nights, themed parties, and community events drew a devoted following, while its unpretentious vibe made it a welcoming space for newcomers discovering the scene.
Throughout the 1980s and ’90s, The Trestle was part of a nationwide network of leather bars that helped sustain LGBTQ community during challenging times. It remained a fixture of the Dallas gay bar landscape well into the 2000s before finally closing in 2010, marking the end of an era for many longtime patrons.
