From the early 1970s through the mid-1980s, The Serpent 8 Club occupied a strange, shadowy corner of Burbank nightlife at 4109 W. Burbank Blvd. Part nightclub, part rumor, it earned a reputation as a place you didn’t just wander into — you found it, or someone brought you.
Serpent 8 leaned hard into atmosphere: serpents, exotic symbolism, low light, and a sense that something slightly unexplainable was always happening just beyond the edge of the room. It wasn’t about dance-floor hits or bar-top small talk. The crowd skewed toward the curious, the esoteric, the spiritually inclined, and the proudly unconventional — people more interested in energy, mystery, and experience than typical nightlife formulas.
Some called it cult-like. Others called it transcendent. Either way, Serpent 8 existed firmly outside the mainstream, offering an alternative vision of what a club could be — immersive, ritualistic, and unapologetically strange.
