The Lure — NYC Leather Bar Tee (1994–2004)
Opening its doors in January 1994, The Lure quickly became one of New York City’s standout leather and uniform bars in the Meatpacking District and Chelsea, known for its cruisy vibe, themed nights, and dedicated crowd drawn from downtown nightlife and the leather community. The bar’s name stood for more than branding—it signaled a room defined by dress code, ritual, and a sense of shared intent that regulars understood immediately.
For nearly a decade, The Lure served as a destination for men who valued the codes of leather culture: boots, harnesses, uniforms, and camaraderie after hours. As gentrification and changing nightlife patterns reshaped Chelsea in the early 2000s, The Lure’s chapter came to a close.
