The Coleherne (often playfully dubbed “The Cloneherne”) was one of London’s most iconic gay leather pubs, located at 261 Old Brompton Road in Earl’s Court. Dating back to 1866 and quietly embracing gay patrons by the mid-1950s, it became legendary in the 1970s and ’80s for its blacked-out windows, strict leather dress code, and international clientele.

By day, it hosted vibrant jazz and Caribbean jam sessions; by night, it turned into a sanctuary where leathermen, drag performers, and queer travelers mingled freely—sometimes skirting the edge of police scrutiny and public protest. Despite attempts to mellow its image in the ’90s, it remained a raw symbol of queer resistance and community until its transformation into a gastropub in 2008.

I use Bella + Canvas 3001 Unisex tees for all of my designs. They are a soft and light cotton. If you love another brand, please let me know and I can see if I can source it. I can also do my designs on tanks, long sleeve tees, sweatshirts, hoodies and posters. Just reach out with any custom requests and I'll gladly help you out. I do like large prints, but if you want the design scaled down, please contact me before placing an order and I can send you some mock ups.
