The Bolt was one of San Francisco’s early leather bars, operating during the period when the South of Market scene was beginning to take shape into one of the most influential leather districts in the country. Direct, masculine, and rooted in bar culture rather than spectacle, it helped establish the tone for what SoMa nightlife would become.
