Well-known, well-worn, and very much part of Detroit’s nightlife fabric, The Back Pocket was a staple of the city’s gay bar scene for two decades. Operating from 1980 to 2000, it built a reputation as a cruising-oriented bar and pool hall, blending social hangout and after-dark energy in one space.
