Studio One — West Hollywood, CA (1974–1993) Once a former camera-factory turned nightclub, Studio One opened its doors in 1974 and became one of L.A.’s biggest gay discotheques. Known for its legendary dance floor, erotic shows, and cabaret-style “Backlot” theater, it drew crowds with glamour, sweat, and spectacular nightlife. Though Studio One closed its disco era chapter by 1993, its name lives on in memory, iconography, and stories of Los Angeles gay disco culture.
