Tucked among the redwoods of Guerneville, the Russian River Eagle was Northern California’s answer to the classic San Francisco leather bar — rough around the edges, friendly at the core, and always ready for one more song before closing.
Opening in the 1980s, the Eagle became a summer sanctuary for leathermen, bears, and weekend escapees who came north to breathe, flirt, and dance without city limits. Part biker bar, part brotherhood, it embodied everything the River stood for: nature, freedom, and unapologetic queer community.
