The Reno VIP Club, originally known as Dave’s VIP Lounge, was a foundational gay bar and resort in Reno, Nevada.It opened in 1966 at 3001 W. Fourth Street and operated until 1988.During its 22-year run, it became a central hub for LGBTQ+ nightlife and tourism in the region.
The venue was more than just a bar—it was a 24-hour motel and party destination featuring a pool, dance floor, and a mural of the Marlboro Man.It attracted visitors from across the West, especially from California, and played a significant role in the development of Reno’s queer social scene.
In 1968, the VIP Club hosted the first "Queen of Reno" drag ball, an event that laid the groundwork for the establishment of the Silver Dollar Court and the Imperial Court of Nevada.The venue also welcomed the San Francisco Imperial Court for annual events, further cementing its status as a regional LGBTQ+ landmark.
After its closure in 1988, the property continued to serve the LGBTQ+ community under various names, including Visions, Reflections, and Blue Cactus.
