The Nob Hill Cinema in San Francisco opened on November 21, 1969, with the film House of Passion. By 1971, it had transitioned into a gay male porn cinema. The venue continued operating for nearly five decades before closing on August 19, 2018, when the owners retired and sold the building.

It's worth noting that the building housing the Nob Hill Cinema had a rich history prior to 1969. Previously, it was known as Club Hangover, a renowned jazz club that hosted live radio broadcasts and featured performers such as Turk Murphy and Earl "Fatha" Hines.
