Michael’s Thing – Replica Promo T-Shirt
Published: 1970–2000

For thirty years, Michael’s Thing was New York City’s gay entertainment magazine — a living record of where to go, who to see, and what mattered after dark. Published from 1970 to 2000 by Michael Giammetta, the magazine documented gay life in real time: bars, clubs, performers, parties, ads, gossip, and the ever-changing rhythm of the city’s queer scene.

But Michael’s Thing was never just about nightlife listings. Its publisher, Michael Giammetta, was deeply embedded in the history it covered — a founder of New York’s first Gay Pride Parade and an original member of the Gay Activists Alliance (GAA). That connection mattered. The magazine existed at the intersection of pleasure and politics, entertainment and liberation, joy and resistance.

Week after week, year after year, Michael’s Thing served as a guide, a bulletin board, and a mirror for a community building itself publicly for the first time. Long before digital platforms or social feeds, this was how queer New York stayed connected.

This replica tee honors that legacy — a tribute to print culture, nightlife history, and a publication that understood something essential: visibility wasn’t just fought for in the streets, it was also printed, shared, and worn proudly.
