In 1974, the Midwest Lesbian Conference and Music Festival brought together women from across the region for a gathering that blended politics, culture, and celebration at a pivotal moment in the women’s and LGBTQ liberation movements.

The early 1970s were a time of intense organizing. Lesbian feminists were building their own networks, publications, and spaces — often separate from both mainstream feminist organizations and male-dominated gay activism.
