MACHISMO — Vintage Menswear Logo Tee
Pulled from a 1970s menswear catalogue, MACHISMO was originally meant to sell a certain kind of masculine ideal—confident, stylish, and probably photographed with far too much chest hair showing.
Taken out of that context, the word becomes a little more complicated. Machismo can suggest swagger, toughness, vanity, performance, or the pressure to act like a very particular kind of man. Worn today, it can read as sincere, ironic, critical, flirtatious—or all four at once.
That ambiguity is what makes the logo work. A forgotten piece of commercial menswear branding becomes something sharper: part vintage fashion artifact, part joke, and part reminder that masculinity has always involved a certain amount of costume.
