Krass Brothers wasn’t just a men’s clothing store—it was a full-blown Philadelphia institution. Tucked into a former movie theater on South Street, the shop became famous far beyond the city for its outlandish commercials, wild promotions, and unforgettable catchphrase: “If you didn’t buy your clothes from Krass Brothers, you wuz robbed.” Run by Ben Krass and his brothers starting in 1947, the store dressed everyone from Muhammad Ali to Chubby Checker, earning its self-proclaimed title as “The Store of the Stars.” Whether it was suits, silk shirts, or just the thrill of being part of something uniquely Philly, Krass Brothers delivered it with attitude, grit, and a rubber chicken or two.
