Hi Kamp (Houston Gay Bar/1970's)

Hi Kamp was a Houston gay bar operating in Montrose from about 1972 to 1976, located at 3400 Travis Street, one of the early gathering spots for queer men in a neighborhood that would become Houston’s heart of LGBTQ nightlife. It was simple, raw, and alive—cheap drinks, late nights, conversation in corners, and the thrill of being somewhere you could just be.
