Gushers – Oklahoma City Hoodie
Long before OKC had a polished queer nightlife scene, Gushers was already pouring strong drinks, blasting pop anthems, and giving locals a place to be loud, messy, flirty, and fully themselves. Part dance bar, part neighborhood hangout, part rite of passage, it earned its reputation the old-fashioned way: late nights, loyal regulars, and stories that absolutely cannot be repeated outside the building.
From the ’80s through the 2000s, Gushers held down the scene as one of Oklahoma City’s most reliable gay watering holes — the kind of place where drag queens rehearsed in the dressing room mirror, couples carved out their table for decades, and newcomers got welcomed with a wink and a “you’ll fit right in.” Sticky floors? Sure. Big personality? Absolutely. Community? Always.
