Long after her 1950s television debut, Vampira—created and embodied by Maila Nurmi—remained a living icon of horror, camp, and outsider glamour. In the 1970s and 80s, she appeared at conventions and fan events selling her own merchandise directly to admirers, turning the act of self-promotion into something intimate, subversive, and fiercely independent.
One of the most memorable items was her handmade souvenir T-shirt, emblazoned with the word GET—a blunt, cheeky provocation that perfectly matched her deadpan delivery and refusal to soften her image. Like Vampira herself, the shirt walked the line between humor and threat, sexuality and satire, DIY hustle and cult mythology.
