Coral Sands Motel first opened in the 1970s, carving out a niche as one of Hollywood’s most discreet and welcoming gay-friendly motels. With its bubblegum-pink neon, clothing-optional courtyard pool, and sauna, it became a go-to retreat for LGBTQ+ travelers looking for a quiet hideaway just off Western Avenue. The Coral Sands continued operating through multiple cultural shifts before finally closing its doors around 2006—its legacy now memorialized in the redevelopment that followed.
