Overlooking the Pacific at Ocean Boulevard and Cherry Avenue, Club Ripples was a Long Beach landmark — part dance floor, part family, and all heart. Opened in 1972, it became one of Southern California’s first openly gay clubs, serving generations of locals, sailors, and weekend pilgrims who came for the music, the view, and the freedom to be themselves.
With two levels, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a sea breeze rolling through the night, Ripples offered something rare: a queer space that felt both electric and welcoming. Drag shows, disco nights, and charity events made it more than a bar — it was a community anchor for over forty years.
