Chester Inn — Atlantic City, NJ (c.1967–1988) Located on the famed gay nightlife strip of New York Avenue (and its side alleys) in Atlantic City, Chester Inn became a central gathering point for LGBTQ+ tourists and locals after the 1967 court ruling that helped normalize gay bars in New Jersey. It offered overnight lodging, a lounge and restaurant on its ground floor, and was part of the vibrant gay enclave that once made “gay Atlantic City” a destination.
