For nearly three decades, Buddies stood as one of Kansas City’s best-known gay neighborhood bars—a welcoming, low-key space that became a constant in the city’s LGBTQ+ nightlife from 1992 to 2019.
Rather than chasing trends or trying to reinvent itself, Buddies built its reputation on familiarity: strong regular crowd, approachable atmosphere, conversation at the bar, pool tables, karaoke, and the kind of easygoing energy that kept people coming back year after year.
