Blow Buddies wasn’t just a bathhouse—it was San Francisco’s largest, most iconic gay sex club, opening its doors on August 8, 1988 in SoMa. Spanning 6,000 sq ft, it became a legendary haven of cruising, glory holes, and kink culture. With a membership and cover-fee model, it thrived through the AIDS crisis, tech booms, and decades of changing city life.
Sadly, after March 15, 2020, Blow Buddies closed permanently—“created in response to one virus and done in by another.” It held on through 32 years of queer nightlife, only to be silenced by the COVID-19 pandemic.
