With clothing-optional sun decks, tropical gardens, a pool, and an easygoing atmosphere, it offered exactly what many visitors came to the island seeking: relaxation without pretense.

Long before major hotel chains actively welcomed LGBTQ+ travelers, independently owned resorts like the Atlantic Shores filled an essential role.
