For nearly three decades, Apex stood as one of DC’s most recognizable gay dance clubs—a place where the night didn’t really get going until late, and rarely ended early. Known for its expansive dance floor, video screens, and high-energy crowd, it drew a mix of locals and out-of-towners looking for something bigger, louder, and a little more electric.
Opening in 1983, Apex evolved with the city’s scene while holding onto its core identity: a true dance club at heart. DJs, lights, and packed weekends made it a reliable destination when the rest of the night needed somewhere to land.
