Located at 1044 Market Street, the bar became a central gathering spot, known especially for its drag shows and nightlife events, which introduced many in the Ohio Valley to queer performance culture for the first time . For some, it wasn’t just a bar—it was an entry point into the community itself.
By the 2000s and into the 2010s, Another World remained one of the few consistent LGBTQ venues in Wheeling, carrying forward a tradition that had once included multiple bars in the city . Its presence was significant—not just as nightlife, but as a space for connection, expression, and identity in a smaller Appalachian city.
Though now closed, Another World represents a later chapter in Wheeling’s queer history—bridging earlier underground bars with a more visible, performance-driven scene.
