Opened in 1939 as Larry’s Buffet at 307 E. Roosevelt, the bar evolved into the 307 Buffet/Lounge and became one of Phoenix’s earliest queer gathering spots. After a fire in the early 1950s, it moved a few doors down to 222 E. Roosevelt but kept the “307” name—hosting drag shows, late-night crowds, and even Ted DeGrazia murals on its walls. The club finally closed in early 2000; the building was demolished in 2015, but the 307’s legacy remains a cornerstone of Arizona LGBTQ history.
