Born from the underground leather bars of Chicago, International Mr. Leather (IML) has grown into one of the world’s most iconic celebrations of queer masculinity, brotherhood, and freedom. Founded in 1979 by Chuck Renslow — owner of the legendary Gold Coast bar — IML turned a local contest into a global gathering of leather men, gear enthusiasts, and community leaders.
