Man’s Land (West Palm Beach, Florida) — 1970s & 1980s
In the 1970s and 1980s, before Wilton Manors became South Florida’s well-known queer hub, Man’s Land was one of West Palm Beach’s underground gay bars and leather-leaning nightlife spots where locals and visitors could meet, dance, and drink in a city still learning how to make space for LGBTQ+ life. It wasn’t flashy—its presence was more about the people who walked through its doors than the sign outside—and for a generation of South Florida gays, it was a rare place of community in a time when open queer spaces were still limited.
