Elephant Walk was a San Francisco landmark that embodied the energy and resilience of the Castro in the late 1970s and beyond. Opened in 1974 at the corner of 18th and Castro, it became a vital gathering spot for the LGBTQ+ community—known for its massive glass windows that made a bold statement: queer joy and visibility belonged in the heart of the city.

Tragically, it was heavily damaged during the White Night Riots in 1979 after the verdict in Harvey Milk’s murder trial, but it rebuilt and carried on as a community hub for years. The Elephant Walk closed in 1996, but its spirit of pride, protest, and togetherness still lingers at that historic corner.

I use Bella + Canvas 3001 Unisex tees for all of my designs. They are a soft and light cotton. If you love another brand, please let me know and I can see if I can source it. I can also do my designs on tanks, long sleeve tees, sweatshirts, hoodies and posters. Just reach out with any custom requests and I'll gladly help you out. I do like large prints, but if you want the design scaled down, please contact me before placing an order and I can send you some mock ups.
