Over the years it evolved with its crowd, becoming a popular spot for drinking, dancing, DJs, and late-night hookups.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eBy the 1990s and 2000s, The Lodge was particularly known for its \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cspan\u003eBlack and Latino gay crowd\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e, with nights featuring hip-hop, house, Latin music, and club classics. It was friendly, a little sleazy, and refreshingly removed from the increasingly polished world of West Hollywood nightlife.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eAnd if the room looks strangely familiar, there’s a reason. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe Lodge appears in Quentin Tarantino’s \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003e\u003cspan\u003eReservoir Dogs\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e (1992)\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e. It’s the bar where Mr. Orange tells the other guys his elaborate story about encountering cops in a bathroom while carrying a bag of marijuana. Tarantino simply used the real North Hollywood gay bar as his location.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThat gives The Lodge the wonderfully unusual distinction of being both a piece of \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cspan\u003eLos Angeles LGBTQ+ nightlife history and movie history\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e—even if most people watching \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003e\u003cspan\u003eReservoir Dogs\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e had absolutely no idea where those guys were
