Its crowd reflected Oakland itself—diverse, energetic, and proudly its own. The club became particularly known as a welcoming space for Black gay men and women at a time when racism could still be encountered within supposedly inclusive LGBTQ+ nightlife.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe bar changed locations over the years and eventually evolved into \u003cstrong\u003eClub BNB\u003c\/strong\u003e, a larger nightclub incarnation of the original Bench and Bar.
